The South African talent went on to become Moto3 champion (2016) and Moto2 runner-up (2019). After these results, KTM pulled him into its factory team in MotoGP, and on his third start, he took his first MotoGP win for the stable. He also scored a triumph in 2021 but had a winless season in 2022. He didn't win last year either, but on the other hand he was very consistent. He won a total of 5 podiums and was fourth in the overall standings.
