L'Italien n'a pas vraiment impressionné lors de sa première saison en MotoGP en 2022. Il n'a réussi à marquer des points que dans une poignée de courses et était loin derrière son coéquipier Enea Bastianini. L'année dernière, l'histoire a été complètement différente. Di Giannantonio marquait régulièrement des points et a même remporté sa première victoire en MotoGP au Qatar. Il a rejoint l'équipe de Valentino Rossi pour cette saison.
