Enea Bastianini dominated the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix after a dramatic finish. Jorge Martin finished second ahead of Marco Marco. Reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia did not finish the race.
Enea Bastianini took a dramatic victory at the 2024 Emilia Romagna MotoGP Grand Prix after a controversial attack on Jorge Martino on the last lap. Martín, who had led for most of the race, was pushed by Bastianini at turn four and passed. The incident left Martín off the track and visibly frustrated, but he still managed to secure second place. With Bastianini's win Ducati celebrated its 100th victory in MotoGP.
However, second place keeps Martin in a good position to challenge for the title, especially after his main rival Francesco Bagnaia crashed with six laps to go. Bagnaia, who started from pole position, initially held the front but then fell behind Bastianini and Martin and his hopes of a podium finish were ended by a crash on lap 21.
Marc Márquez took advantage of a mistake by Bagnaia to finish third after starting from seventh place. Marco Bezzecchi took fourth position, while Franco Morbidelli completed the top five. The Aprilia team duo of Maverick Viñales and Aleix Espargaró also improved on their original starting positions, with the Italian team's riders finishing sixth and eighth. Fabio Quartararo, who was fifth for most of the race, dropped to seventh in the final laps.
Álex Márquez and Miguel Oliveira completed the top ten, while KTM had a tough day as both Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta crashed. Sixteenth-placed Jack Miller was the highest-placed KTM rider, while Honda had three riders in the points with Joan Miró in 11th, Luca Marini in 12th and Johann Zarco in 15th.
