The Beast, zoals zijn bijnaam luidt, schitterde al in zijn debuutseizoen in 2021 in de MotoGP. Hoewel hij voor het Avintia-team reed met een Ducati-motor van twee jaar oud, behaalde hij twee keer de derde plaats. In 2022 kreeg hij een Ducati-motor van één jaar bij het Gresini-team en hij wist verschillende races te winnen. Voor het seizoen 2023 verhuisde hij naar het fabrieksteam van Ducati. Hij bouwde echter niet voort op de successen van 2022.
