The Beast, so sein Spitzname, glänzte in der MotoGP gleich in seiner Debütsaison 2021. Obwohl er für das Avintia-Team mit einer zwei Jahre alten Ducati-Maschine antrat, erreichte er zweimal den dritten Platz. Im Jahr 2022 bekam er eine einjährige Ducati im Gresini-Team, mit der er mehrere Rennen gewinnen konnte. Für die Saison 2023 wechselte er in das Ducati-Werksteam. Allerdings konnte er nicht an die Erfolge von 2022 anknüpfen.
