Somkiat Chantra is klaar om de eerste Thaise coureur in de MotoGP te worden. Tussen 2019 en 2024 reed hij in de Moto2 met het Idemitsu Honda Team Asia. In 2022 schreef hij geschiedenis als eerste Thaise coureur die een Grand Prix won in Indonesië. Een jaar later won hij opnieuw tijdens de Grand Prix van Japan in Motegi.
